DOES VIRUS CAUSE THE FLU??

Sneezing, runny nose and chills? You might think that is what the human rhinovirus (HRV) does, which causes 30 to 50% of common colds. However, it's not the virus itself but HRV's ability to manipulate your genes that is the true cause of some of the most annoying cold symptoms. "ScienceDaily (Oct. 27, 2008)"

Virologists investigating transmission of the flu virus found that HRV hijacks many of your genes and causes an overblown immune response that ends up with your nose being overblown. It is all the matter of the HRV ability of genes manipulating.

"Results may identify proin-flammatory, or host defense pathways that could be targeted for drug development, not only as treatments for colds but also for viral exacerbations of asthma and COPD."said Dr. Proud.

With these newly found results, the genes associated with the structure of the airways could also be re-modified.Further studies could be done to investigate the role of RHV in asthma.
